My Top 5 Pumpkin Recipes for Fall 2018

We are officially two weeks into the 2018 fall season. Everyone in our neighborhood is decorating their homes with pumpkins, mums, lanterns and string lights. The days are getting shorter, the leaves are just starting to change color and we are hoping to experience cooler weather in a few days. Everything about fall makes me want to bake! Here are my top 5 pumpkin recipes I am enjoying this season: 1. Gluten Free Pumpkin Scones These gluten free pumpkin scones are the perfect addition to breakfast with a cup of tea or coffee. They are moist, yet flaky. The combination of maple, cinnamon and pumpkin are a sweet, yet not overpowering blend. 2. Paleo Pumpkin Nut Bars If you are looking for a crowd pleasing dessert or even an afternoon snack, these paleo pumpkin nut bars are the perfect choice. Combine a crunchy cinnamon almond topping and a fudge-like pumpkin…

Decorating On A Budget: Breakfast Nook & Living Room

It’s our first southern snow day of 2018 in Charlotte, North Carolina. All the schools are closed and our neighbors are roaming the streets in their snow suits and sleds. I have been secretly hoping for snow since we stayed south for the holidays. I think we have close to 5 inches! That’s kind of a big deal for us. I enjoy fresh fallen snow because it acts as a diffuser. My home is beautifully lit and the sun isn’t even out. I had my camera gear out so I took the opportunity to snap a few photos of our home decor updates. Our story We purchased this house in the fall of 2016. It is located in a neighborhood of homes designed to look as if they were plucked right out of Charleston, South Carolina. Our goal is to be fiscally responsible with this investment. That means smart, long…

Thing To Do In Charlotte: Christmas Edition 2017

Welcome back to reality, friends! It’s the first day back to work after the Christmas holiday and it feels like a “case of the Mondays”. Thank goodness it is Wednesday and only a few short days separate us from  another long weekend of celebrations. The 2017 Christmas was full of new traditions for us. Normally, we fly to  snowy New Hampshire to brave the cold temperatures and visit friends and family. This year, we stayed home and enjoyed our first Christmas in Charlotte. Christmas Eve Day we started with the church Christmas program and then drove into Uptown Charlotte. It was game day for the Panthers so the city was humming! We parked by the 7th Street Public Market, had gluten free pizza at Brixx Pizza (where they validated our parking for the day), shopped at CLT Find, found all the Christmas decorations in the city and stopped to watch…

2017 Spring Trip to NH + Skillet Recipe

Morning, Ya’ll! I’m back from spending a week in my home state of New Hampshire. There is something special about spring in New England. The beauty of the crisp morning air, birds singing, ombre shades of green everywhere you look and all the locals smiling at the sun as they soak in its warmth! Even though I’m a Southern gal now, I still remember how good it felt to have the snowy, winter months behind me and summer days at the lake awaiting me. Where i ate Today was my second day back at the gym after a week of rest and traveling. I managed to stay on my Paleo, gluten free diet almost the entire trip. My first morning in the Lakes Region, I took my grandfather and brother out to eat at Kitchen Cravings. I had my usual plate of scrambled eggs, fruit and sausage with a much…
