Exciting developments are happening in the world of luxury travel! After much speculation on Facebook Sandals Resort groups, the news is official: Sandals Emerald Bay will close its doors on August 15th and undergo a transformation into the newest family-friendly destination, Sandals Beaches Exuma.

Announcement from Sandals Resorts International
Peter Menges, Senior VP of Customer Engagement and Insight Loyalty at Unique Vacations, Inc., confirmed the news in an email to Sandals Select Reward Members, stating,
“Many members have shared what we’ve long understood: you wish we had more Beaches properties!”
The conversion of Sandals Emerald Bay to Beaches Exuma will make it the fourth Beaches Resort, tailored for families seeking a luxurious getaway.
Highlights of Sandals Emerald Bay
Sandals Emerald Bay has been a beloved destination for couples, known for its stunning beach, immaculate grounds, breathtaking golf course, unique experiences like swimming with pigs and feeding rock iguanas, and its convenient location near the airport.
Exciting Changes and Renovations
In its transformation, Sandals Emerald Bay will undergo a $100 million renovation to bring the Beaches brand to life. The new Beaches Exuma will feature expanded family-friendly amenities, including enhanced kids’ and teens’ clubs, a splash deck, and a variety of new dining options. This renovation aims to offer an unforgettable experience for guests of all ages, ensuring the resort remains a premier destination in the Bahamas (Eye Witness News) (Sandals Resorts).
The “Other” Bahamian Resort
Although I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting Sandals Emerald Bay, I have enjoyed multiple stays at the other Sandals Resort in Nassau. You can check out my Sandals Royal Bahamian reviews of those trips for a glimpse into the luxurious experience Sandals Resorts offer.

If you currently have a reservation at Sandals Emerald Bay, it’s advised to contact Sandals customer service for immediate assistance. A representative will likely reach out to help rebook your stay at another resort or provide further information. For ease, here is their number: 1-888-SANDALS.
