This is my first weekly recap. I’ve wanted to try this for a while now, but haven’t gotten around to it. I think it’s the best way to share what’s happening in my kitchen, what and how I’m photographing places and things, and travel updates!
Today, I am going to talk about a subject near and dear to my heart. It’s one I am surprised I haven’t delved deeper into on my blog….photography.
Happy Monday!
What a busy day I’ve had already! I was hoping to have my weekend recap out early this morning. However, it has been an efficient day so far and I’m happy with it. 🙂
Are you looking for a date idea, things to do in Charlotte or a free event for the family? Check out the Duke Mansion Gardens. They have been on my date idea list for a while now. A reminder popped up on my calendar Friday night and we decided to give it a try first thing Saturday morning. (Disclosure: Some of the product links in this post are affiliate links. This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive a small affiliate commission. This helps keep my blog running!) visitor info The 4.5+ acres of Southern gardens are located at Duke Mansion Bed and Breakfast, 400 Hermitage Road in Charlotte. They are open to the public for free during daylight hours. Just be sure to call the front desk ahead of time. There might be a private function and there won’t be access to…
One of our favorite things to do is to discover free local events and places in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have an ongoing list of date ideas. I place them sporadically on the calendar and am pleasantly surprised when they pop up. This past weekend, I had the Charlotte Botanical Gardens earmarked for Saturday morning. We had a few errands to run in the South End (Warby Parker), but had the morning open. The UNC Gardens open at 9AM and parking is free anywhere on campus on the weekends. The UNC Charlotte Gardens consist of 10 acres of land with wooded trails and gardens and a greenhouse with exotic plants. It is a beautiful spot for a picnic and would be a great place to escape the heat during the summer months. Rhododendrons were in full bloom and the forest was popping with color. It was an overcast day, which…
Welcome back to reality, friends! It’s the first day back to work after the Christmas holiday and it feels like a “case of the Mondays”. Thank goodness it is Wednesday and only a few short days separate us from another long weekend of celebrations. The 2017 Christmas was full of new traditions for us. Normally, we fly to snowy New Hampshire to brave the cold temperatures and visit friends and family. This year, we stayed home and enjoyed our first Christmas in Charlotte. Christmas Eve Day we started with the church Christmas program and then drove into Uptown Charlotte. It was game day for the Panthers so the city was humming! We parked by the 7th Street Public Market, had gluten free pizza at Brixx Pizza (where they validated our parking for the day), shopped at CLT Find, found all the Christmas decorations in the city and stopped to watch…
This past Friday, Nick and I took a day off from life and spontaneously enjoyed everything we love about living near Charlotte, NC. We are coming up on our one year anniversary in North Carolina. What better way to celebrate than to take part in the places and things that made us pack up our lives and move to this area? Here are 4 places we recommend visiting. 1. Famous Toastery Dilworth Getting up at 5:30 AM on your day off might be the farthest thing from your mind, but when gluten free breakfast at the Famous Toastery of Dilworth is your destination, you jump out of bed! We discovered this restaurant on our first trip to Charlotte, when we were researching the area. On each of our four road trips from Virginia Beach, we would stop at the Famous Toastery, refuel and start on our list of things to…
