My heart will forever be in New England. There is something about your childhood home that always calls you back. When you visit, all those nostalgic emotions and feelings bubble up inside you. The good and the bad. With maturity and time, the good memories always seem the most real. For my birthday, my family sent me plane tickets for a 7 day New Hampshire Getaway. Last year, my parents sold my childhood home and moved to Lake Waukewan. This visit was to experience everything their new place had to offer. I wasn’t disappointed. If you aren’t familiar with the Lakes Region of NH, Lake Waukewan is located in the towns of Meredith, New Hampton and Center Harbor. It feeds Lake Winnipesaukee via a waterfall you can visit at Mill Falls Marketplace. This blog is to share my personal adventures with the hope that your New Hampshire summer vacation might…
Happy Monday!
What a busy day I’ve had already! I was hoping to have my weekend recap out early this morning. However, it has been an efficient day so far and I’m happy with it. 🙂
We just returned from a romantic weekend in Asheville, North Carolina. This was our second stay in downtown and we were surprised at how easy it was to find new gluten free places to eat. We sampled a variety of foods from Western Mediterranean to Mexican to American Burgers. Here are 5 Must-Visit Gluten Free Restaurants in Asheville, NC. I’ve included photos that will make you want to hop in your car and take an impromptu drive to the mountains. (Disclosure: Some of the product links in this post are affiliate links. Traveling with Celiac Disease is a burden I would not wish on my worst enemy. Every trip involves hours of research and communication with airlines, restaurants, resorts and event coordinators. The biggest fear is getting sick on vacation in a world far away from the comforts of home.
If your travel planning story sounds anything like mine, I’d like to introduce you to Sandals Resorts.
Whenever I visit a new city, I like to shop at local businesses.
Historically, September is a busy time for our family. This year was no different. Last week, Nick flew to Nashville for a work conference and I flew to Manchester, NH, to visit my family. When we returned home, we really wanted to reconnect and celebrate our upcoming engagement anniversary. We live only two hours from Asheville, NC, and thought a quick 24 hour road trip would be perfect! The goal of our getaway was to rest, eat and explore the downtown. Here are 5 Places to Eat and Drink Gluten Free in Asheville, North Carolina. Memorial Day weekend, I learned my lesson. Never walk into a weekend unprepared. I was coming off of a week of traveling and had not properly planned meals. This left us watching everyone at the pool eating pizzas, drinking sodas and snacking on chips. We were craving everything that’s terrible for you. Then we made the mistake of venturing to the grocery store. While falling off the healthy diet wagon looks quite different from individual to individual, for us it equates to binging on chips, cashew ice cream, gluten free pizza and cookies. We were not off to a great start after our holiday weekend. I was determined to do better. The neighborhood pool has opened up for the summer season. We enjoy spending Saturday and Sunday morning soaking up a little Vitamin D. This means I need to plan healthy pool snacks and have lunch ready for when we…
Morning, Ya’ll! I’m back from spending a week in my home state of New Hampshire. There is something special about spring in New England. The beauty of the crisp morning air, birds singing, ombre shades of green everywhere you look and all the locals smiling at the sun as they soak in its warmth! Even though I’m a Southern gal now, I still remember how good it felt to have the snowy, winter months behind me and summer days at the lake awaiting me. Where i ate Today was my second day back at the gym after a week of rest and traveling. I managed to stay on my Paleo, gluten free diet almost the entire trip. My first morning in the Lakes Region, I took my grandfather and brother out to eat at Kitchen Cravings. I had my usual plate of scrambled eggs, fruit and sausage with a much…
